French green beans are a nice alternative to the traditional canned variety, which I love, but they make for a better presentation on the table.
These beans are tender but crunchy at the same time. They provide that wholesome, delicious, rustic imagery of a Fall or Winter meal.
What is great about these beans is they so simple to make and can be cooked in a cast iron pan and served in the same pan.
You could add slivered almonds for additional texture in the bite, or a julienned ham to give them a smokiness flavor.
Preheat oven to 425.
Rinse the green beans.
Heat a cast iron pan on the stove over medium heat. Add oil and green beans.
Saute beans for 5 minutes, add garlic and saute for another 5 minutes.
Add water, and place pan in the oven for 10 minutes.
Remove the pan and place the beans in a serving dish or serve in the pan.
Thanks for printing this recipe. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
